Sevgili Suzy, bize Sofar Sounds‘u tanıştırmasaydı hayatımızda müzik adına büyük bir eksiklik olurdu.

Uzun zamandır bir Sofar konserine katılmak için başvuru yapıyorduk mail ile. Sistem size dunyanın her şehrinde hangi tarihte gizli konser olacağını gösteren bir mail ile başlıyor. Sonra en kısa zamanda başvuru formunu doldurup yolluyorsunuz. Konsere bir hafta kala kabul olduğunuz ya da olmadığınıza dair bir mail geliyor. Bir gün önce ise mekanın “gizli” adresi.

Sofar Sounds 2009 yılında Londra’da kuruluyor. Konserler sırasında herkesin mesajlaşmasından ve sohbet etmesinden bıkan bir grup insan, evlerde yapılan yeni bir oluşum kurmaya karar veriyor ve arkadaşlarını eve davet ediyorlar. Zaman geçtikçe bu tarz konserler başka şehirlerde yayılmaya başlıyor ve bugün bizim de bir parçası olduğumuz konser haline geliyorlar.

Bugün battaniyemizi, şarabımızı, kendi bardağımızı alıp gittik gizli adrese. Güzel mi güzel bir Werkstatt (atölye) içindeydi konser. En fazla 60 kişi vardı diye tahmin ediyorum çünkü kontenjan daha önce de bahsettiğim gibi sınırlı. Mailde yerlerin soğuk olacağı ve kendi battaniyenizi kendiniz getirmeniz gerektiği yazıyordu. Unutmadan belirteyim bu güzel etkinlik bedava. Sonunda isterseniz çalan gruplardan beğendiginiz birinin CD’sini alabilir ya da elden ele geçen torbaya Sofar Sounds’un devam etmesi icin bağışlarınızı atabilirsiniz. Bu organizasyonun kar güden hiçbir tarafı yok denebilir. Tek amaç pek bilinmeyen grupların enfes müziklerini sakin ve güzel bir ortamda dinleyebilmek.

Farklı insanlarla tanışıp sohbet etme şansı bulduğumuzu da eklemek gerek. 3 grup sahne aldı. Üçünü de tabii ki bilmiyordum ama öyle güzel müzik yaptılar ki bundan sonra fazlaca dinleyeceğimi sanıyorum. Leeds’den gelmiş olan Dancing Years sanırım gecenin favorisi oldu benim için. Oda & Sebastian ise cok tatlı ve sesleri fazlası ile uyumlu bir çiftti.

Bu konser İstanbul’da da oluyor. Aralık ayında gözükmese de Kasım ayında var olduğunu gelen mailden hatırlıyorum. İstanbul’dakine de bir şans vermek gerekir diye düşünüyorum.

Kesinlikle kaçırmayın. Güzel müzik güzel ev ve güzel insanlar…

We would be missing the ultimate music experience of our lives if Suzy hadn’t recommended Sofar Sounds to us.

We actually have been applying to attend a Sofar event for a long time. First, the system lists you all the events around the world by mail. You fill an application form for the event you want to attend and wait… One week before the event you get another email confirming that you are allowed to the concert and the day before the event you get the exact address of the location.

Sofar Sounds was established in London in 2009 by people, who were tired of the standard concert atmosphere with the audience chatting, texting and sometimes not listening at all. They started by organizing a private gig at a friend’s house and it was followed by many others. Today there are Sofar events all around the world and they give musicians the opportunity to meet audiences that are thirsty for a good music experience.

We took our blanket and wine and went to today’s secret location as we were informed before that the floor could be cold. We were in a lovely studio in Munich with not more than 60 guests.

It’s worth mentioning that Sofar events are completely free. However it’s possible to donate to Sofar or buy CDs and t-shirts of the performing musicians.

We had the chance of chatting with lovely people during the performance breaks. 3 different bands performed tonight and it was a unique experience. I can say that Dancing Years were my favorite. Oda& Sebastian were also a very harmonic couple.

Although there wasn’t an event in December, Sofar organizes concerts in Istanbul too. I remember reading about a November event in Istanbul. I would love to give it a try in Istanbul.

I’d say try not the miss the next event…
